Is There Taste in this Waste???

Review from Relix Magazine
The hiatus is over, or is it? Last Friday Taste the Waste played an unannounced show at the Relapse Theater in SF. It was great to see the boys back on stage, however they didn't seem to thrilled to be there. From the opening notes of "Telling it was ment to be teld" to the anticlimactic "Running and Gunning' the band gave one of the most lackluster performances of it's career. Even with the excitement surrounding the unbelievable mysterious I-pod tracks, the band just didn't seem to be in tune with each other. It seems as if the band has stopped practicing. (It's rumored that even the i-pod sessions were phoned in and that the band had not played a note together until last Friday) They just couldn't nail anything. Zo's solos might have been interesting if he wasn't fucking with his amp every 5 minutes. I don't know if there is bad blood within the band but Caffey & Southside didn't even look at each other the entire show. There was none of the famous eye contact jamming going on between any of the members. At one point Trilock and Chainsaw sat at the side of the stage and just talked and shared a massala dosa. The rest of the band didn't seem to notice when Rico nodded off during Chainsaw's extended theramin solo during Reggie Miller Blues.
The only part of the show where the band seemed to be having a good time was during the Victim jam. Chainsaw pulled out the famous piggy back and raged on the 6' graphix!!!! It seemed that the higher he got the more inspired the rest of the band became. Even though Rico's rendition of Puff the Magic Dragon was top notch Caffey & Zo couldn't stand to be out of the lime light so they started hackey sacking. Caffey totally ruined the magic moment when he fell into Trilock's gear. Rico, like a true professional kept signing in his spiritual falsetto voice.
Last Friday was a real disappointment for all us fans, but the band just didn't seem to care. I know it' s not realistic for them to keep up with 8 hour practice sessions, but I hope they take some time to get it together before the hit the stage again.
